About Me

Recently, I was asked why in interdisciplinary studies. After deep contemplation, I can easily say—evolution.

In my early adult life, I couldn’t see the relevance of college, or the classes I took in high school. When would I use the Pythagorean theorem or quadratic formula? I took a more practical approach attending a vocational training program in cosmetology.

After marriage, divorce, and life as a single parent, I realized this life was not sustainable, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area. I then enrolled in a Dispensing Optician program and sought my associate degree. As many may attest, life has a way of interrupting our best laid plans. I had to take a break from school to attend my other responsibilities. I delayed my ambition to earn my bachelor’s degree. Life is funny that way, right?

I’ve returned to school and adult learning in many forms, becoming a certified leadership coach, studied holistic health, earning a certificate as a health coach, and joined development teams to create training curriculum. I recently completed a credentialing program for CTE instructors.

Through this circuitous path, I’ve discovered I revel in the learning process. I’ve discovered a new appreciation for the compounding effect of repetition and layering that comes from that process.

Learning is fluid, life is fluid and multi-faceted. With interdisciplinary studies and the ability to explore multiple areas of interests, I am intrigued and focused on my goal to see how they intersect.
